December 8, 2015 – Colorado Gives Day! Past

Not only is it nearing Thanksgiving, but Colorado Gives Day is fast approaching! This year it is December 8th. Please consider donating to the Poudre Whitewater Park. Thanks to many generous donations, we are very close to meeting our commitment with the City!!

This year our goal is to raise at least $10,000 on Colorado Gives Day! As an incentive to donate on Colorado Gives Day, we will receive a percentage of the $1,000,000 matching fund based on our portion of the overall funds raised across all causes on Colorado Gives Day.

Please visit our page at coloradogives.org to donate:

https://www.coloradogives.org/NoCoGives/index.php?section=organizations&action=newDonationToFundraiser&fwID=7582

To reduce the pressure to remember this on the 8th, you can even schedule your donation ahead of time! Simply go to the URL above and under “Donation Type” select “CO GIVES DAY”, then simply submit the form as normal and your donation will occur on December 8th.

Thanks for your help and your donation! Also watch your local news sources for an upcoming announcement about the Whitewater Park!

July 2nd, 2015 6-8pm Past

JAX Outdoor has graciously offered to host a Poudre Whitewater Park benefit on July 2nd from 6 to 8 pm at Fort Collins store. It will be held in their courtyard area. There will be free non-adult beverages (sorry, our permit wasn’t filed early enough to serve beer apparently) free t-shirts (while supplies last) as well as food trucks parked nearby for purchased food. And best of all, Michael Kirkpatrick (http://www.michaelkirkpatrickmusic.com/) will be performing for us. See below for a short write up about Michael and his music.

Please come and help support the Poudre Whitewater Park effort. We are very close to making this a reality (yes I know you’ve heard that before…a few times) but we still need your support right now to push it through. And anyway come on, there’s going to be free T-SHIRTS and MUSIC, you can’t beat that… well unless there was beer. Sorry, we’re just a bunch of boaters trying to do event planning.

Hope to see you there. It’s going to be a great time! Come by, support the park and hear where we are headed next!

About Michael
Singer. Songwriter. Folk and Rock musician. 2014 Telluride Troubadour Competition winner. Michael Kirkpatrick is a modern day minstrel. Performing over 150 dates a year, Michael sings about nature, dreams and sensuality. The original music comes to you straight from Michael’s soul–unfiltered, passionate and true. Michael was recently named “Best Male Singer Songwriter” by the Fort Collins Musicians Association Peer Awards two years in a row, and his latest release “Key To My Cage” was awarded “Best Colorado Folk/Singer-Songwriter Album of 2013” by The Colorado Sound Fan Poll. His voice has been described as “deep, earnest, swoony and powerful”. Original Americana, Rock and Folk combine with Michael’s rich bass voice to define his timeless sound—imagine a Cat Stevens-Darrell Scott-David Bowie hybrid. Aside from performing as a solo artist, you can catch Michael on stage with his Folkadelic Rock band The Holler!

Thanks for helping pass BoB II!
This will continue the Building on Basics tax (0.25% tax). The full resolution is also available here.

When you read it, you will note it says that that BoB II will fund the “Downtown Poudre River Enhancements and Kayak Park”. What it will really fund is the river enhancements, bank restoration, bridge, trails, and the like. The instream kayak features as well as a portion of overall funding (for a total of $1.5 million) are still being funded privately. The wording was chosen by the city to try and describe all of the work that was being done in that stretch of river, not just what was to be funded by BoB II.

Please vote yes on BoB II (Ballot Issue 1). With it we will get a whitewater park, without it, the future is much more unclear even with the private funding.

For more information, you can visit the Keeping Fort Collins Great website or their Facebook page.
